Your role:
Your role as a Cultivation Specialist As a cultivation specialist, you are responsible for the cultivation of quality strawberries at one of our production locations. After an internal training program, you will progress to an independent role where you manage and optimize the growing conditions. The rhythm of the seasons determines the dynamics of your work. The conditions in the greenhouse continuously change due to weather influences, and that is what makes the job challenging and varied. You oversee the entire cultivation process: from plant development to perfectly ripe strawberries. In doing so, you combine craftsmanship with data analysis and digital tools, ensuring that quality, taste, and yield are consistently brought to the highest level.
Your tasks:
What are you going to do? • Responsible for the cultivation of quality strawberries • Control of the climate within a production site • Optimising and monitoring the cultivation process (climate, water, nutrition, energy) • Analysing cultivation data and translating it into concrete improvement actions • Identifying deviations in growth, production, and quality • Implementing innovative and residue-free cultivation methods • Working with climate computers and digital registration systems • Directing and guiding a team of cultivation staff • Collaborating intensively with 2 colleague cultivation specialists • Weekly meetings with the cultivation team, external cultivation advisor • Close cooperation with production and quality departments Data plays an increasingly larger role in our decision-making. Therefore, we are looking for a cultivation specialist with: • Digital skills and an affinity for automation • Practical approach: you translate data into concrete actions in the greenhouse • Insight into climate computers and modern cultivation systems • Interest in further digitalisation and innovation You will work in a high-tech environment with modern greenhouses and tunnels, where data and craftsmanship come together.
What are you bringing?
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in horticulture, plant cultivation or agriculture) • Knowledge and understanding of the growth process of plants (required) • Experience in soft fruit cultivation is a strong advantage • Affinity for sustainable and innovative cultivation techniques • Knowledge of climate computers and automation • Proficient in Dutch and English • Willingness to be on call for a weekend every 4 weeks • Analytical skills and numerical insight
