Royal Berry takes over the greenhouse location Egchel from Wijnen Square Crops

As of December 1, 2025, Royal Berry will take over the greenhouse cultivation location in Egchel from Limburg's Wijnen Square Crops. The takeover involves a modern greenhouse operation of 18 hectares, where cucumbers and peppers are currently being cultivated.

With this takeover, Royal Berry expands its area to a total of 75 hectares and the company is taking the next step in its growth strategy. The location in Egchel will be fully prepared for strawberry cultivation after a short conversion period, with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation.

Happy with the opportunity for expansion and sustainability Royal Berry has actively sought opportunities to further expand its production in combination with the next step in sustainability and innovation in recent years. "With this takeover, we are adding a location that fits excellently with our future vision," says owner Jan van Genderen. "The location, the scale, and the possibilities of this greenhouse align perfectly with our plans for sustainable and future-proof strawberry cultivation. We are incredibly proud and grateful to welcome this beautiful company into our group. This expansion gives us the energy to further strengthen our position in the market."

Royal Berry is also particularly pleased with this opportunity in Limburg. As a member of Cooperative Kompany, based in Limburg's Venlo, the company already has a strong connection to this region. "Thanks to the collaboration within the cooperative, establishing a presence in Limburg feels like a logical and valuable step."

The new location in Egchel will be set up for illuminated cultivation.
